Case of the Mondays! Same Day Delivery!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful day! I know I have, it has been very productive. This will be a short post!

There has been speculation that Amazon will be building distribution centers in different states so that they may allow SAME DAY DELIVERY! I thought their prices are excellent which is why I frequently shop on Amazon. The big question is pricing. I know that at $79 becoming a prime member allows you to attain exclusive benefits such as free two-day delivery, and access to Amazon Prime Video. Included with Amazon Prime is $3.99 one day delivery. I hope they give prime members cheap and across the board same day delivery pricing as well. This is extremely convenient than having to go to major big box retailers! I purchase college books, gadgets, accessories, and a lot of other things at excellent pricing options. This will definitely push Amazon in the right direction to be in direct competition with retailers such as Walmart and Bestbuy. With their phone currently in development, Amazon has so many services under its belt which is quickly rocketing Amazon as the forefront for online shopping.

This has been a very short Case of the Mondays! post, have a wonderful afternoon everyone!

TGIF! Amazon OS!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday! I know I am, it has been a wonderful and productive day. To cap off today’s’ news,  Amazon is reportedly developing a new phone.

The phone in question is said to head into direct competition with the iPhone. Boy, we have heard that many times before ala Android. However, it wouldn’t be entirely difficult for Amazon to come out with their own mobile phone. Amazon already offers the Kindle Fire, which has Android software running on it. Aside from that, they also have their own app store and music store as well. So the only thing they could possibly do is to entirely overhaul the Android OS to fit Amazon’s liking. This could be both interesting and dull, we have seen so many versions of phones that run Android. It’s just a device running Android OS, and as always wants to gun with the iPhone.  Those totally not in tune with the idea of an Amazon smartphone can already download Amazon’s flagship apps off the Google Play store and Itunes.  I personally love Amazon’s online store and frequently shop their site. So this could be a huge turning point for Amazon. I guess we will have to wait for an official announcement before we can either praise another Android device or bash one.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday afternoon! TGIF! Until the next one folks!

Case of The Mondays! Nexus Globe

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday! A little thing caught my eye over the weekend. What was it? Just a little thing called the Nexus 7.

Whats that? Well it is Google’s newest tablet, and the first thing I noticed was the price. At only $199 this new seven-inch tablet boast incredible specifications and a sharp display. Specifically the Nexus 7 is manufactured by Asus, is an Android slate with 7-inch 1280×800 screen and a 1.3GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor. The tablet runs Android 4.1 Jellybean. So for the price point it has currently set, this could be the Kindle Fires’ biggest competitor. The only thing that might tug a string is that it lacks a micro SD slot, however the quad-core processor should swoon many like myself. I will definitely pick one of these beautiful tablets soon. The Nexus 7 will include the Google play store, which includes, books, games, and apps related to your general interests. This tablet will pair neatly with Google’s recently announced Nexus Q.

Google’s Nexus Q boats an impressive  OMAP 4460 dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPU with an SGX540 graphics core. The processor is accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 16GB of flash memory. However, what is it? It is Google’s flagship new home server which will enable users to easily stream content from their tablets, Android phones, to their TV sets.  The device does come with a micro HDMI output to hook easily into your HDTV.  What does this mean for Google? Will the “Nexus” be Google’s brand new foray of products. I certainly think so, specially with their highly popular Nexus Android phones. The Nexus Q will allow users to stream movies, tv shows, and music with little to no hassle. Want to watch the movie on your tablet? Sure! You can easily switch from the TV set to your Android tablet or straight onto your Android Phone.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Monday, I am excited for the Nexus 7 , and can’t wait to purchase one! They are available now through Google’s Play Store, so hurry up and scoop one up!

TGIF! Nokia Lumia 900 Edition!

Good afternoon everyone! Welcome to a very special edition of the TGIF! Featuring the new Nokia Lumia 900!

Overall, this was clearly a first open box experience with the phone itself! So specs, what does it have? It has a clear black 4.3 inch AMOLED display, which packs a nice HD screen. Running Windows Mango 7.5 it has been confirmed that this Windows Phone will not be offered the upgrade to Windows OS 8. What’s up with that! Right? Moving on, the phone is heavier than the iPhone 4/4S . The touch screen is extremely responsive to the touch and is very sleek. The live tile integration is smooth but truly limits the phone to the live tile screen. There is an arrow to the top right side of the screen that takes you to a “drawer” of sorts and displays each different stock app such as the camera, and general settings. The feature I do like the most is the People screen, which is an interactive contacts that live updates their Twitter and Facebook account as well as display their number and contact information. So you are able to see live updates on your friends and family members. I’m not sure if I will write a more thorough and lengthy review of the phone itself. However, I do find it quite attractive. Even more so the price point is much more attractive at $99 through AT&T you really can not beat the price compared to its Apple competitor. I will need to shoot some video with the phone and also shoot some stills on its 8 megapixel camera to really stress out and test out the phone. I am genuinely interested in the phone and looking forward to playing around with all of its features as well as its integrated Xbox Live application.

This has been a very short TGIF! Cheers everyone!

Case of The Mondays! Facebook Fiasco

20120625-174656.jpg

Good afternoon everyone ! I hope you are enjoying your Monday afternoon and welcome to another edition if Case of The Mondays!

To start of the news Facebook is once again under the privacy issue cross hair due to a recent addition of its new “feature” called “find friends nearby”. This “feature” if you will, lets you see who is nearby on your friends list. What’s the big deal you say? Well this new feature is being dubbed the staking app. This feature is automatically enabled on each individual users page so you must opt out on your own accord. Much like the fiasco involving Facebook timeline, this feature gives away your exact location to anyone on your friends list. Like timeline users were subjected to public info regarding personal accounts. Timeline’s issue was that everyone automatically converted to public profiles and their older posts became open to anyone. So that being said, of you want go opt out in your privacy settings!

Another feature that Facebook carried out so quietly is the Facebook email. Every user that has a vanity URL with Facebook has been converted to the new email system. For example, mine is Nikon.v2@facebook.com it works just like email and if you send me an email it’ll pop up in my message center. Again, this automatically makes your vanity URL your default email address, so go change it back if you would like to! Until the next one folks, have a wonderful Monday afternoon!

TGIF! Apple 8!

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone is having a great TGIF! It’s gonna be a wonderful weekend, and I’m still excited for iOS 6. While on the topic of Apple, rumor and speculation hints at Apple’s new iPhone having new dock connector.

The new dock connector is 19 pins as opposed to the 30 pin the current connector currently boasts. The form is similar to the Thunderbolt port and will have accessories makers on the fringe with designing entirely new cases and gadgets. This will be good for current iPhone 4/4s users because that means liquidation of current accessories! To drift from Apple news and onto Microsoft’s mobile efforts.

Microsoft recently unveiled its newest offering to the mobile platform Windows Phone. Windows Phone 8 will be Microsoft’s newest flagship operating system for all of its mobile phones.  So whats new? Lets see here, multi-core support, a brand new integrated Internet Explorer 10, C and C++ support which is great for  developers and easier to develop apps. Other features include a brand new wallet experience which is similar to Google Wallet, and will enable users to store their credit card information, loyalty and membership cards for places such as Starbucks, and Target.  One major overhaul is that Microsoft is nixing Bing Maps from its OS and incorporating Nokia’s Navteq mapping system.  So overall Windows Phone 8 could be a true competitor to Apple’s iOS, and Google’s Android OS. It’s exciting to see Windows finally delve deeper into the mobile platform and give users true reason to be proud to own a Windows Phone.

Well this has been another wonderful TGIF! post! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Case of The Mondays! Lazy Edition

Good afternoon everyone! I hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Today has been extremely awesome and productive for me. So this will be a short and sweet post because I am feeling the Monday’s ! So to top of the day I got a chance to play around with the iOS 6 !

I must say I am very impressed with it and can not wait for a public release of it! The maps look awesome! What do you think ? Has anyone else downloaded the beta?

To move on to shorter news, there seems to be a floating Microsoft manifesto detailing the new Xbox and other Microsoft endeavors. One feature that I saw was the blu ray playback which I am so glad they are implanting. Then there was the mention of the new seamless Kinect 2. I’m excited to see what will be in store for Microsoft and their newest console! Until the next one folks, this has been another short and sweet edition of Case of The Mondays!

TGIF! Until Tomorrow!

Due to certain circumstances, keep a eye out for TGIF! on Saturday! :)

Case of The Mondays! Apple WWDC Edition

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful Monday afternoon. As you may all know, today Apple delivered their World Wide Developers Conference!

The image up above is from the new line of Retina Display Macbook Pros.  They will pack an impressive 2880 x 1800 display, maintain up to 16gb of Ram, and up to 756 gb of flash SSD storage. The only drawback is the whopping starting price of $2,199 dollars. The most expensive starting Macbook Pro to date. Will I get one? OF COURSE! This is such an awesome upgrade from the 2011 model, it will pack a higher resolution, faster graphics, and a new magsafe power adapter. The form factor remains the same, and Apple still hasn’t rolled out an entirely new redesign.

So Apple finally decided to give Google maps the boot, by unveiling its newest map application. Built from the ground up, Apple’s new map application is powered by TomTom Navigation systems. This is exciting because this will bring out a more unified Apple community, as far as Google goes, they will lose out on profits from Apple users who once relied on the map. Now Apple has their own brand new Map application to boast.

One of the major announcements was the unveiling of iOS 6 for all Apple portable devices. The key feature touted in this release was deeper integration of Facebook and Facebook’s new app center. The ability to share your thoughts on an app becomes much easier with iOS 6. Siri has finally found its way onto the newest iPad, and will be updated to include application launches. That is very neat, by voice activating application launching it will enable a truly hands free experience.  One of the more neat features is called the Do Not Disturb, by turning this option on at night you won’t receive notifications from Facebook or any other incoming text messages or phone call.

One thing missing from this WWDC was the announcement of the iPhone 5. What does this mean? Will there be a separate iPhone 5 event to release and show its newest features? I guess we will have to stay tuned for that announement.Until the next one folks, have a wonderful Monday afternoon!
